Other than a couple of brief asides, this video doesn't discuss the biggest criticism of the game that I've seen a few times. That is, its later acts are significantly underdeveloped compared to the first one, a typical Larian trait of biting off more than they could chew.

I think if you generally try to play BG3 with that Simulationist mindset it might be true that the combat feels more deliberate - however, since the cost for resting is so low, there is really not much keeping you from resting up all the time. That created in me the opposite feeling of deliberation, making me only ever use my best abilities regardless of situation. Combined with the massive amount of useless spells this lead me to dislike the combat more and more throughout the game, especially on magic using characters.

I haven't finished the video yet (i will) but i don't wanna forget to mention that in Act 1.5 in the Grymforge if you long rest one too many times, Nere will die under the rubble, also traveling outside the region seems to also trigger his death, considering he is trapped in a small room with toxic fumes, makes sense. Also in Act 3 in Baldur's Gate if you get the mission to rescue Florrick from her execution (this is only if you previously saved her from the burning building in Walkeen's Rest) and you long rest too many times, she will die. So there are some disadvantages to long resting too much. But always keep in mind that there are also disadvantages to long resting too little aswell. Since i had a full party of 4 physical damage dealers, i didn't needed to long rest because i had no spell slots to recover, and i missed a few important cutscenes that only trigger during long rest moments at camp. In my case i was doing my honour mode run and had really high approval with Astarion and did all of the quests i needed to confirm the romance, but even though i knew, i forgot to long rest enough before moving to Act 3, i missed a specific scene that didn't trigger and so by Act 3 Astarion breaks up with your Tav. This had happened on my previous tactitian run, but i could quickly reload and go back and fix it, only for the same thing to happen to me during honour mode, and having no way to fix it. Locking yourself out of content that you technically "earned" by completing quests simply because you didn't trigger a cutscene (confession at camp) that you don't even know you have to trigger before moving to Act 3, seems a bit silly, i understand if one misses the romance content in Act 3 if in Act 2 you refuse to help the character with their quests, it would be logical consequences following your own actions. But a new player might stumble onto the same issue as me, because they don't know I do believe BG3 needs to tweak this a bit, there is a mod available that will tell you when you have a camp event available to trigger, but the main game should have something like this, like a character approaching you and telling you they want to discuss something with you at camp for example.

Flashback already had a terrible sequel in 1995's Fade To Black, which for some reason changed the rotoscoped side platform action of the original to a terrible 3-D shooter.

Minsc is not "to be rescued like a damsel" at all, he's some sort of mafia strong man you first see brutally opening a mimic *from within*, freeing himself in the process ! But yes, Baldur's Gate 3 is clearly diverse, as the proper way of a classic tabletop RPG should be. And it's also a mythical license, based upon a mythical name (DnD), I'm pretty sure the antiwoke crowd could put their feelings aside for such quality. So it means you can go "woke" and not got broke, it also means most "woke" games probaly sucked balls to the point where antiwoke crowd went fury mode instead of going "meh the game is fine"

That's a decent summary of RPGs so far, yet RPGs still have more ways to explore the story telling expeience, you should make a series of ways that RPGs can improve for the future

A few other overarching themes in the story picked up on also include Price of Power (ie Tadpole powers, Deals with devils, Ketheric/Isobel's backstory, Emperor's backstory, Gale, etc) (while there's a nice thematic through line narratively, I do think this couldve been incorporated better mechanically, eg consequence for using tadpoles) and Cycles of Abuse (ie Cazador's backstory & Ascended Astarion, Gortash's & Karlach's backstory, Orin's backstory, etc) As a minor side-note, though you mention that you can trust Shadowheart to not kill the Nightsong, but she actually may still follow through regardless depending on if you've previously raised some flags or not earlier, and depending on her approval. Suppose your point still stands though, as if you do try to be friendly with her, these flags are pretty easy not to miss afaik.

Oh man, I didn't really think about it before, but resting to save with a single save file also does a lot more to incentivise resting. I just completed my first playthrough (tactician), and despite being very completionist I also believe I missed a lot of content because I would always try to stretch out my resources as much as possible - so I almost never long rested, or short rested for that matter.

Thank you for the amount of work it must have taken to put this video together. ❤ I thought that it was presented very well and was a thoughtful piece of work. and while I do have a bit of frustration with these other UA-camrs, I plan to ignore them and send positive vibes to the game developers of the games that I play. and that includes starfield. regardless of who wrote them these stories have gotten me through the best and worst times in my life.
